File Locations and the approximate size of storage available
A: - Floppy Drive 1.4 MB. This is the equivalent of 56 word document with just text (no pictures or graphics). Or, 1 single picture from a 4 mp camera.
C: - Hard Drive...the internal drive inside the computer in front of you...AKA your local computer. Files saved anywhere on the "Desktop" or "My Documents" are stored ONLY on that computer. If you move computers, your files will NOT be available. Although the space of this storage is only limited by the internal drive, you must not keep stuff saved to the C drive as your files will be periodically deleted. - Approx 20gb of free space.
D: CD or DVD Drives
E, F, G, H: External USB Hard Drive or other memory stick. Based on Drive Size. E can also be a 2nd CD/DVD Drive.
L: - Student storage on the school wide server. The server is located in the "F" hall. The "L" drive is automatically assigned to your when you log in the very first time and provides you with 50mb of storage space. This is the equivalent of 50 digital pictures from a 3mp camera...or 25 pictures from a 6 mp camera...so use this space sparingly.
P: - Photography storage drive. This is a special shared volume just for photography students providing an additional 650mb of storage. Although this drive is available anywhere in the district (when YOU log in), it should be mapped for easier access (see mapped link for instructions for mapping). The server for this folder is in the CG Photo Lab, V61.
To understand the limitations of each of the above, please review memory size.
