FitRadio Quotes, General:

Winners aren't people who never fail but people who never quit!

You decide every moment of every day: who you are & what you believe in. You get a second chance, every second.

Power only belongs only to the workers; the idlers are always powerless.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear.

Those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything.

Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality.

It is the joy within that creates a magnificent life on the outside.

Health is the greatest possession. Contentment is the greatest treasure. Confidence is the greatest friend.

Your future is created by what you do TODAY, not tomorrow.

It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

I am always doing that which I cannot do in order that I may learn how to do it.

Failure is not a loss, it's a mindset.

Some of your activities should be viewed as an investment & not as a sacrifice.

You can fight without ever winning; but never, ever win without a fight.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

Failure is not the opposite of success, it's a stepping stone to success.

You make mistakes because you're focusing on the target & not on your actions.

It's hard to beat a person who never gives up!

There will be haters, there will be doubters, there will be non-believers & there will be you, proving them wrong.

Winners do what losers don't want to do.

All endings are beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.

The definition of success is the difference between what you could have been doing & what you are.

The moments we think we can't are opportunities to prove we can.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself." -Eleanor Roosevelt

Why are you choosing failure when success is an option?

Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.

Your current circumstances don't determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.

Don't put in 1/2 of the effort unless you're okay with 1/2 of the results.

Don't be embarrassed or self conscious about trying to do your best. Nothing lame about working hard.

Don't hate on other's success like you don't have the same 24 hours.

...stop saying "I wish" & start saying "I will." Consider nothing impossible, then treat possibilities as probabilities.

When you say 'yes' to others, make sure you are not saying 'no' to yourself.

Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.

Great ideas have something in common with bad ones: Early on, they both sound ridiculous.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

Instead of giving yourself reasons why you can't, give yourself reasons why you can.

Begin while others make excuses. Workout while others are wishing. Persist while others are quitting.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

You can't spell challenge without change. If you're going to rise to the challenge, you have to be prepared to change.

Most great people have achieved their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.

Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results.

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

Never let a stumble in the road be the end of the journey.

The best way to finish an unpleasant task is to get started.

If people are doubting how far you'll go, go so far that you can't hear them anymore.

Don't avoid the hills. In running, in cycling & in life. Strength is found when you tackle the seemingly impossible.

“Ability is what you're capable of doing.

                                          ~Lou Holtz

In life we often have to choose between something we have become accustomed to and what we want to have.

Extended Messages & Quotes (most from Mark Penny TFTD emails):

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.
~Mary Anne Radmacher~
Things do not always work out as we have hoped or planned, and we do not always succeed in our efforts to be and do all that we know in our heart we are called to. But simply having the courage and strength to face each new day with a renewed sense of hope, and steadfast resolve to try again, is a big step toward realizing your ambitions. Let go of the disappointments and failures of yesterday, and fully embrace THIS day, with a determination that breakthrough will come...and it WILL come!

An Encouraging Word... - posted 9/25/15
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.
~Albert Schweitzer~
We all have times when the burdens we face become overwhelming, or the  circumstances in our life leave us feeling completely discouraged.  A simple word of encouragement, gesture of kindness, or just the showing of care and compassion during those times, can lift someone from the depths of despair and rekindle the hope that is within them.  As we go about our busy day, it's very easy to overlook these priceless opportunities.  We cry out to be used for some great purpose, or be given the resources to make a difference, when all the while the ability to do so is right before us.  Every day, we can be the light that shines in a dark world for someone.  All it takes is awareness.

All Together Now...

I can do what you can't do, and you can do what I can't do.  Together we can do great things.
~Mother Teresa~
No one is an island unto themself.  We all need one another in order to become all that we are capable of being.  The synergy which comes from learning how to work together toward a common goal, building upon each others' strengths, edifying and encouraging one another, will always produce something far greater than the sum of each individuals' part.

Mirror, Mirror
Life is just a mirror, and what you see out there, you must first see inside yourself.
~Wally (Famous) Amos~

How many times have you seen someone accusing someone else, or ridiculing another, for the very thing that they themselves are most guilty of?  How many times have we ourselves done the same thing?  Our perception, and what we often see in others, is many times a direct result of how we truly feel about ourselves, or something within us that needs to be dealt with.  If we don't like what we see in someone else, and have the urge to chastise or correct them, it may well pay to first take a good look at our own behavior and attitudes as well!

Come On And Dance...

Dance like no one is watching, Love like you'll never be hurt, Sing like no one is listening, Live like it's heaven on earth.
~William Purkey~

Quit worrying about what everyone else might think, or what they might say...chances are, they're going to think it or say it anyway!  Be true to yourself, and enjoy the perfect law of liberty.  Express joy in all that you have, and are, and you will find your place, and your peace.

Making The Choice...
Destiny is not a matter of chance;  it is a matter of choice.  It is not a thing to be waited for;  it is a thing to be achieved.
~William Jennings Bryan~
Every day we are faced with making choices between alternatives that are available to us.  Even indecision is a choice.  Determine your course with confidence, allowing that inner voice, and what you know to be just and right, to spur you on and be your guide...then live every day to the fullest, choosing to accept only the best that life has for you.

Persistent Pursuit...
As long as we are persistent in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.
~Denis Waitley~
Persistence is a key element to ultimate accomplishment. Whenever you begin to get discouraged by setbacks or failure, or feel that you are not reaching your goal, simply take a moment to reflect back upon where you have come FROM. You will most assuredly see, that although you may not be exactly what or where you want to be, you HAVE come far from where you used to be! Carry on...your time WILL come!!!

A Little More...
Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.
~Cadet Maxim~

So many things happen in our lives which can cause us to build walls around our hearts, in an ill-fated attempt to "protect" ourselves. Yet those same walls are exactly what keep us from experiencing life to its' fullest...as we slowly begin to withdraw from the unknown, fear showing others how much we care, lose our dreams, and no longer believe that, indeed, all things ARE possible. Shake off once and for all, those shackles of past hurt and disappointment, doubt and unbelief, and open the door to all the wonders that life has to offer.

Bad Advice...
"Quit now, you'll never make it." If you disregard this advice, you'll be halfway there.
~David Zucker~
When you embark upon fulfilling a bold vision, often you will meet with much resistance from those that do not, or cannot, see what you see...and they will do everything possible to convince you that it cannot be accomplished. This is merely there own fears, being projected onto you. Don't allow them, or your own fears and doubts to sway you from your path. Maintain a consistent focus on the goal, and it's attainment, shutting out that which may cause you to second guess your call. Follow that inner voice that will lead and guide you through the dark places that it may lead, before it is brought into the light...and that is consistently reminding you, that "you can do this". It WILL make all the difference in giving you the tenacity and drive to see it through to completion.

A Turning Point...

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
- Art Linkletter
The attitude and perspective with which we view the various events and challenges in our lives, plays a huge role in our ultimate experience of them. When we begin to view ALL of life's changing situations and circumstances as fertile ground...ever offering something to learn, profit or grow from, rather than something to be feared, hurt, or beaten down from. Even when walking through fire, remember just Who goes with you...then do things become a never ending source of hope, joy and love, which in turn, changes everything.

Problems and Solutions...
Running away from any problem only increases the distance from the solution. The easiest way to escape from the problem is to solve it.
~Author Unknown~
There is a natural tendency to shy away from troublesome problems that plague us, whether they be physical, emotional, circumstance, or even spiritually related. We try to avoid them, ignore them, or otherwise bury them from having to be dealt with...and by doing so, only prolong their effect endlessly, until we do. That being the case, doesn't it make sense to simply meet them head on, and lay them to rest once and for all, to minimize the anguish associated with them? The odds are, when you do, you will find that it really wasn't that big of a problem at all, merely a stepping stone to something greater...peace of mind!

Rainy Days...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain!
~Author Unknown~

A lifetime can be spent waiting for everything to be just so, and all the storms of life to pass, before beginning to enjoy life, or pursue your heart's desire.  Take heed, for one day you will look around and discover that all those moments were indeed, your life.  Live for this day, and this moment...Don't allow circumstances to dictate who you are, how you feel, or control your peace and joy.  Understand and take comfort in the fact, that those things come from that which is abiding within you, NOT from things external.

Confident Hope...
Do, or do not.  There is no "try".
~Yoda (The Empire Strikes Back)~
When you know in your heart that you have been called to a particular course of action, go forward with faith and confidence, knowing that your needs will be provided for in the process of its fulfillment. Hesitancy, doubt and fear must be vanquished, or there is ever the tendency to draw back, raising the potential of missing the very things that will guide you along the path to attainment. Allow for no other alternatives, and you WILL meet with success.

Abundantly Clear...

Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.
~Dr. Wayne Dyer~

The potential for abundance in every area of our lives, truly is within our grasp, simply waiting for us to develop the understanding...that it all has already been given to us. The only thing that remains, is to fully recognize that fact, grab hold of it, and begin to walk in and experience its' truth.

Moving On...
The only time you should ever look back, is to see how far you've come.
~Author Unknown~

Dwelling on past mistakes, misfortunes, lost relations, or missed opportunities only serves to rob you of your peace and strength in the present. The only profit in looking back, is to gain perspective of your progress and an understanding of the lessons learned. Make the most of THIS day, with hope and anticipation toward what tomorrow will also bring. Today IS the first day of the rest of your life...choose to live it to the fullest!

Breaking Patterns...
When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.
~Tuli Kupferberger~
In order to truly experience growth and transformation, old habits and patterns of behavior that no longer serve us (or possibly never did) must be broken.  Don't accept "status quo", or believe that things cannot be different for you.  Simply be open to new ideas, and ways of thinking, doing or "being".  Start in some small way, and observe the resulting changes in perspective and circumstances that begin to appear.  You may just find that a whole new world of possibilities opens up for you as a result.

In Response...
Life isn't happening to you; it is responding to you.
~Rhonda Byrne~
If we are questioning why we are going through certain circumstances, we often need look no further than our own thoughts, words and actions.  Life has an amazingly accurate way of giving back to us exactly that which we put forth.  Know that the thoughts you entertain, the words that you speak, and ultimately the actions that you take as a result, as seeds planted, all serve to shape the life that you will experience.  Guard your heart's intent with all diligence, and the journey will be much more gratifying.

Simple Logic...

Our life is frittered away by detail...simplify, simplify!
~Henry David Thoreau~

In this information age which we live, we can sometimes become consumed with gathering infinite detail and information regarding things, before we are willing to act.  Sometimes, what is needed, is to simply step out of the boat and trust that everything needed will be provided at the proper time.  Acting on simple faith, without regard to whatever the "facts" may seem to dictate, can bring forth untold opportunities and rewards, that may have remained hidden or unrealized, due to the paralysis which can come from information overload.

Circling the Mountain...

Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know.
~Pema Chodron~

How many times have you found yourself in the same predicament, with the same problem, adverse situation, or negative emotions being evoked in your life?  It may have appeared to be different at the start, or come about in some new way, but the end result is ultimately always the same.  When you recognize this repeating pattern, it would serve you well to fully consider what lesson may need to be learned from it, in order to move beyond it, and keep from having to experience it yet again.  Whether it be a need to change an old habit, attitude, belief, thought or action...the sooner you exact that change, the sooner you can release it from your life once and for all.

A Sensible Approach...

Someday, everything will make perfect sense.  So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.
~Author Unknown~
Many things that happen in our lives, simply make no sense in the moment.  We wonder why they have happened to us, and what possible purpose they could serve.  But as time goes on, and we reflect upon them objectively, we see the lessons contained in them, or how they ultimately served to get us to where we needed to be.  Understanding that everything happens for a reason, and maintaining an attitude of acceptance, anticipation and hope throughout, makes the transition much easier.  Simply rest in the knowledge that everything will become clear in its time.

What to Make of It...
And life is what we make it. Always has been, always will be.
~Grandma Moses~
We have the "conscious" choice every minute of every day, to determine exactly how we will experience life in that moment.  The attitude that we bring to it, and the thoughts we entertain regarding it, will serve to make it one of  miracles or one of misery.  Understand that you DO have within you, a God given ability to shape your world, and determine how you will experience life.  It very simply comes down to believing and making the determination to focus your intention on the good inherent in every circumstance...allowing yourself to be all that you were created to be!

What's Next...

Don't dwell on what went wrong.  Instead, focus on what to do next.  Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.
~Denis Waitley~

In the course of our daily lives, it's inevitable that we will sometimes make poor choices and decisions, or things simply do not work out as we had hoped, or think that they should have.  Getting lost in what might have been, what should have happened, or how we failed in some way, tends to only lead to despair.  Just learn from the experience and focus on what lies ahead.  It's difficult enough to see the proper path and courses of action moving forward, without clouding the way by continually looking back, and dwelling on the past.

A Small Difference...
I have never been especially impressed by the heroics of people convinced that they are about to change the world.  I am more awed by those who struggle to make one small difference after another.
~Ellen Goodman~
It's not some moment of extraordinary heroism or achievement that comprises the true character and substance of one's life.  Those that are most often remembered, and have the greatest impact on our world, are they that strive day after day, to make some small difference in the lives of those around them.  Never forget, that one small gesture of love, kindness, compassion, understanding or support, can change a life forever.  And, all of those small acts create a ripple effect, that carries on to others, on and on, far beyond that which we ourselves may recognize or perceive.  The ability to change the world therefore, rests in the hands of those who are willing to silently and without fanfare, leave each person that they meet, in some small way better off from the encounter.

A Slippery Slope...
Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped.
~African proverb~

It's fairly easy to recognize and identify a problem area in our lives, based on the end result.  What we often fail to see however, are the many small compromises, improper behaviors, or choices that have led up to it.  There is a tendency to downplay and rationalize the little everyday decisions that ultimately become bigger issues.  Take heed of those little everyday choices, and understand that there truly are no "little" indiscretions...they are the very foundations upon which the larger ones are built.

A Breaking Point... (I think I used this)
Life does not accommodate, it shatters you.  It is meant to, and couldn't do it better.  Every seed destroys its container or else there would be no fruition.
~Florida Scott-Maxwell~

Just as a horse must be "broken" in order to be of any service to the rider...so must we all be broken of our natural self-serving tendencies, in order to grow and become all that we are capable of.  The trials and challenges that we experience in life have a way of doing just that.  When we allow them to instead plant in us roots of bitterness, resentment, fear, pride, etc., the journey can be a long and painful one.  Why not choose this day, instead, to let go of those emotions, and allow the work to be done?  Only then, does the ride become an enjoyable one!

Hanging On, and Hanging In...

It's hard to beat a person who never gives up.
~Babe Ruth~
One of the single most important elements to achieving mastery in any area, is very simply, refusing to quit.  You may have to carry on long after others have counted you out, or through circumstances that appear completely contrary, to see the victory made manifest in your life.  Just continue to persevere, and watch what unfolds.  So many have given up, just when they might have seen the fulfillment of their desires, if only they had continued on a while longer.

New Beginnings...
If you are looking for a happy ending and can't find one...find a new beginning instead.
~Author Unknown~
When old ways of doing things, existing relationships, or familiar thought patterns are simply not working for you any longer, maybe it's time for a new beginning.  Remain open to new possibilities of work and expression, let go of toxic relations, and allow your thoughts to expand and receive greater insight and understanding.  If you are living life to the fullest, it is inevitable that some mistakes in judgment and failed ventures will occur along the way.  Simply be willing to learn from them, accept them for what they are, and look forward to that which is possible on the road ahead.

Aha Moments...

A moment's insight is sometimes worth a life's experience.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes~

If we will only pay attention to the wisdom and knowledge that is available and ever being shown to us, and apply ourselves to achieving real understanding, so many painful and unpleasant experiences could be avoided.  Take time to listen to and heed that still small voice that provides the insight, understanding and guidance, which lead to proper perspectives.  Your world WILL begin to change...from the inside out.

The Answer of Faith...
Doubt sees the obstacles;  faith sees the way.  Doubt sees the darkest night;  faith sees the day.  Doubt dreads to take a step;  faith soars on high.  Doubt questions, "who believes"?;  faith answers, "I''.
~Author Unknown~
Simple faith is the essential ingredient to overcoming any obstacle, exacting any lasting change in our lives, and receiving the promise of all that has been made available to us.  Faith gives substance to that which is unseen by the natural eye, first bringing it in to the realm of possibility, and then into present day reality.  Nothing can truly be accomplished without it...with it, absolutely nothing is impossible!

Decisions, Decisions...
The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this:  Decide what you want.
~Ben Stein~
Every single day we are faced with a myriad of choices to make.  How and what we choose, even in the seemingly trivial matters, can serve to shape the course of our life.  Even indecision is a choice, in and of itself.  You MUST develop a steadfast resolve as to the direction that you are going, or you will be taken off course and drawn to the wrong path at every turn.

The Big Picture...
Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.
~Author Unknown~
In the moment, at times, we cannot always see what possible good could come from the circumstances that we find ourselves in.  Maintaining a "big picture" focus during these times will help to place things in proper perspective, and help see you through them.  Sometimes it is necessary for certain things to fall away, in order for us to be able to receive something of greater worth...and things often appear the most bleak, just prior to tremendous breakthrough.  Simply proceed with a sense of gratitude, knowing and trusting, that all things will ultimately work out for your certain good.  That shift in perception (and thought) will cause other things to begin to take form, to insure that they do.

Practicing the Impossible...
"There is no use trying," said Alice. "One can't believe impossible
things."  "I dare say you haven't had much practice.  When I was your
age, I always did it for half an hour a day.  Why, sometimes I've believed
as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
~Lewis Carroll - "Alice in Wonderland"~
A necessary ingredient to seeing "miracles" made manifest in your midst, is the steadfast belief that what may appear to the natural senses as an impossibility, is indeed possible.  Once your thinking has been stretched to this new dimension, you will never perceive things (or be) the same again.  So, what are you waiting for...dream on...and then believe in the dream!

Resolution Time...
Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.  Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.  All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.  A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
~William Murray~
Make the commitment...TODAY, to act upon those things that you know in your heart you are called to do.  Don't be concerned with exactly how everything will come together.  Simply take the first step...and watch how things begin to fall into place to bring them about.

A Critical Assessment...
You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn't worked, try approving of yourself and see what happens.
~Louise L. Hay~
Oftentimes, we are our own worst enemy...constantly beating ourselves up over perceived failures and shortcomings, or things that we could or should have done differently.  Certainly we need to acknowledge our mistakes and strive to correct them, in order to move past them.  But simply accept that you are a work in process, and know that this life is all about developing into fullness of maturity, purpose and "being".  Accept yourself, and enjoy the journey to understanding.  Complete perfection will only come in eternity!

Simply the Best...
I always prefer to believe the best of everybody - it saves so much trouble.
~Rudyard Kipling~
A wonderful thing happens when we set our minds to believing the best of everyone that we meet, and upon whatever circumstance that may arise.  Not only will people and events tend to rise to your level of expectation, but your own attitude and perceptions will serve to make the experience a pleasant and profitable one.  Exercise those muscles of trust and faith, in your fellow man, and in that all things work together for good...It will return rewards that you may never have imagined, if instead you had chosen to view the encounter or situation with mistrust and doubt.

Great Expectations...

Expect your every need to be met, expect the answer to every problem, expect abundance on every level, expect to grow spiritually.
~Eileen Caddy~
Every accomplishment begins with the earnest expectation that what is desired will indeed come to pass.  Your expectations, and what you put forth regarding them in thought, words and actions, serve as a catalyst to bring them into manifestation.   Don't allow fear and doubt to rob you of all that you are capable and deserving of.  Expect great things, and watch how circumstances and events begin to come into alignment to bring them to fruition.

The problem is not that there are problems.  The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.
~Theodore Rubin~
To believe that there will come a time when you have no problems will only lead to disillusionment and disappointment.  But, once you recognize that there will always be problems or challenges to face in one form or another, and that within them lie opportunities...you will develop the ability to look beyond them, and see a never-ending road of possibilities.

The First Step...
Vision is not enough.  It must be combined with venture.  It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs.
~Vaclav Havel~
Generally, when we have a bold vision for something, the most difficult step  to take toward its attainment, is the first one.  When we look at the big picture, and our current condition or means of accomplishing it, it can be quite intimidating.  Writing the vision down, then breaking it down into each individual step that will need to be taken in order to accomplish it, can be of  immense value.  Focus on the things that can be done immediately to realize the objective, without concern for those things that presently appear out of reach.  The simple act of doing what you can NOW, with what you have, will open doors and create opportunities that were previously unseen.

Worrier or Warrior?

Worry is meditating on something that you do NOT want to happen.
~Author Unkown~
Consider what a destructive force it is to focus our thoughts and attention on things that we, in fact, do NOT want to happen!  Why would we want to give place to them, and thus raise the potential for manifesting them in our lives?  What a silly waste of time and energy that is.  When negative or worrisome thoughts begin to invade your mind, make the conscious decision to instead focus on the positive, and good that are always contained in every situation.  It WILL begin to change both your perspective and circumstances.  Be a warrior, not a worrier...a victor, not a victim!

Keep Swinging...
My motto was always to keep swinging.  Whether I was in a slump
or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was to keep swinging.
~Hank Aaron~
No matter how circumstances may appear, or what failures may arise, there are really only two choices...you can either give up and quit, or simply decide to keep stepping up to the plate and taking your swings.  If you are resolute and determined, eventually you WILL meet with a measure of success.  When considering the alternative, is there really any other choice to be made?  Keeping your sights firmly fixed on the ultimate goal, and upon the One from Whom your strength truly comes, will provide the encouragement and perseverance needed to see you through the midnight hour!

Unless you learn to face your own shadows, you will continue to see them in others, because the world outside you is only a reflection of the world inside you.
~Author Unknown~
The undesirable traits or behaviors that we repeatedly see exhibited by others toward us, can very often simply be a reflection of things which we need to examine in ourselves.  Some can be so deeply rooted in our own subconscious, that we do not even recognize they are there.  Pay close attention to these repeating patterns and look inward to that which is in you, that may be attracting them to you.  Rather than trying to "fix" them in another, focus on that which you can take from the experience, to resolve your own negative emotions and responses.

Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has many…not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
~Charles Dickens~

There is nothing that can be done to change the past...nor can one move forward, while looking back.  So often, we have a tendency to dwell on past mistakes and perceived losses, and to take for granted just how blessed we truly are.  Take some time to reflect upon all that you have learned, and the many things that you have to be thankful for.  Live for THIS day, and go forward with confident expectation, in the hope that is set before you.

Knowledge vs. Wisdom...
Never mistake knowledge for wisdom.  One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.
~Sandra Carey~
One may possess great knowledge, yet lack the wisdom which endures, to produce life-changing results.  Knowledge without this wisdom, only results in vanity.  In order to experience the fullness of life, seek wisdom and understanding, not mere head knowledge.  It is truly what gives meaning to the journey!

If you don't like something, change it.  If you can't change it, change the way you think about it.
~Mary Engelbreit~
We all have an amazing capacity to exact change in our lives through awareness, diligence and effort.  But some things simply cannot be changed.  When we learn to know the difference, and accept and simply embrace whatever cannot be, peace can be found in any circumstance.  A powerful message for daily life is contained in the simplicity of these words from the Serenity Prayer:  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Surprise, Surprise...
It's amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.
~Charles F. Kettering~
Too often, we think we know just exactly how something should be done, or precisely what the end result should be.  Yet, when we are willing to remain open to all possibilities, laying our preconceived notions aside...willing to change and adapt to changing circumstance...open to new and deeper understanding...things can often develop and evolve into something far beyond anything we may have originally anticipated.  Try it, and experience those "aha moments" that make life an exciting adventure, rather than one of endless drudgery.

An Open Door...

When one door closes another one opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.
~Alexander Graham Bell~
Don't dwell on past mistakes, failures or lost opportunities.  Put the past  behind you once and for all...learn from it and move on!  Pay attention to what presents itself to you today, being ever vigilant for new opportunities to learn, and to grow, and to develop into all that you might become.  Allow yourself to experience life to the fullest, free from the shackles and burdens of that which lies behind, and ever mindful of the door that may open before you this day.

Enjoying The Journey...
For a long time it seemed to me that real life was about to begin, but there was always some obstacle in the way.  Something had to be gotten through first, some unfinished business;  time still to be served, a debt to be paid.  Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
~Bette Howland~
Who among us can ever say that we have truly "arrived".  In this life, there will always be physical, emotional and spiritual challenges to be endured or overcome.  However, in gaining victory over each mistake, trial or adversity that we are confronted with, we learn, grow, and mature into that which we might become.  Learn to enjoy the journey my friend...this one takes a lifetime to complete.

A Now Word...
"Now" is the operative word.  Everything you put in your way is just a method of putting off the hour when you could actually be doing your dream.  You don't need endless time and perfect conditions.  Do it now.  Do it today.  Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating.
~Barbara Sher~
A lifetime can be spent waiting for the perfect conditions, the necessary provision, or just the right moment to begin living one's dream.  Take a step of faith, and simply begin to walk in that which you know your destiny to be.  See how providence moves, circumstances realign, and open doors & divine connections materialize...to provide you with exactly what you need, at just the right moment, to accomplish that which you have set forth to do.   A journey of a thousand miles begins with that first step.

Hope that does not Disappoint...
Disappointment to a noble soul is what cold water is to burning metal; it strengthens, tempers, intensifies, but never destroys it.
~Eliza Tabor~
It's natural to feel disappointment at times, when things do not go as we have hoped or planned in the moment.  But if the vision is a noble one, don't despair, it could merely mean that you need to make a slight correction or adjustment, in order to see it realized.  Remain steadfast, and continue on your course through the dark places that it may first lead you, and it will eventually come to light.

Life Lessons...

The difference between school and life?  In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test.  In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.
~Tom Bodett~

It's a fact that most spiritual and meaningful life lessons to be learned, are generally diametrically opposed to our "natural" tendencies, and ways of doing or seeing things.  You must give in order to receive...in difficulty, our real opportunities for growth may be found...we must die (to self), in order to truly live (by the Spirit)...in our weaknesses, true strength can be found.  Be open to understanding and applying these principles, and experience the complete transformation of heart and mind that occurs as a result.  You will never be the same again.  There will be a test!

Facing Fears...

F_E_A_R;  Forget Everything and Run, or Face Everything and Rise.  You get to choose!
~Author Unknown~
There are an endless number of things happening in the world today, and within each of us, that can induce a state of fear and paralysis.  We cannot continue to run from them, or we will ultimately be consumed by them.  Let us face them once and for all, and rise to the inheritance that is ours for this day, and this time!  It is in love, that the strength is found.  And the choice is one that is ours to make.

The Truth of the Matter...
The truth of the matter is that you ALWAYS know the right thing to do.  The hard part is doing it.
~General H. Norman Schwarzkopf~
Oftentimes we are tempted to do things that we know in our heart are simply not right.  Though it may seem like the only solution at the time or the easiest course of action, the cost, in the long run, is always far greater than the temporary benefit.  Listen to that inner voice of guidance, and choose to take the high road...ultimately, you'll be thankful that you did!

Making It Stick...
A snowflake is one of God's most unique and fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!
~Author Unknown~
Never underestimate the synergy which comes from teamwork and relationships.  It is a critical element in producing your full potential and maintaining a positive outlook.  When one is down, another can encourage and build them up.  When one has exhausted their resources in tackling a troubling problem or situation, another may have just the answer to resolve it, or take things to an entirely new level.  Take time to cultivate those relationships, as they are precious in every way!

Living The Dream...

The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers.  But above all, the world needs dreamers who do.
~Sarah Ban Breathnach~
Do not expect your dreams to come true simply by sitting idly by and wishing that they would.  Act on them!  There can be no greater regret, than to get to the end of one's life, and wonder "what if?"...what if I had done this, or what if I had chosen that direction?  What do you really stand to lose in trying?      Worst case, you will have learned valuable lessons from the experience.    Today IS the first day of the rest of your life...live it to the fullest!

An Ear to Hear...
Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.
~Jimi Hendrix~
There is much to be gained in disciplining ourselves to overcome the natural desire to speak or be heard, rather than fully listen...or in responding negatively to discipline or instruction, rather than giving it proper consideration.  Often, we are so intent on what we want to say, or proving our own point of view, that we fail to really hear that which is being conveyed to us.  Developing the ability to keep the mind from wandering, or emotion to control our responses, can pay huge dividends.  We were given two ears and only one mouth for a reason.  Give attention to listening fully, and see for yourself the wisdom in it!

Mistaken Identity...

The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.
~John Powell~
In order to grow in any area, it's inevitable that mistakes in judgment will occur along the way.  The key lies in acknowledging them when they do happen, learning from them, and using them as stepping stones toward your ultimate goal.  Don't allow them to define who you truly are.  Any bold course necessarily entails the risk of error.  Don't allow fear of failure or hurt to immobilize you, or a simple mistake to keep you from continuing to pursue your vision.  That would indeed be the biggest mistake!  And quit beating yourself up over past mishaps and lost opportunities...it's a new day!!!

Who are You...

We look at some people as if they were special, gifted, divine.  Nobody is special and gifted and divine.  No more than you are, no more than I am.  The only difference, the very only one, is that they have begun to understand what they really are and have begun to practice it.
~Richard Bach~
Each and every one of us has an inheritance, not borne of this world.  It doesn't matter where you came from, what innate skills or abilities you may possess, what you do or do not have, your physical or social stature...it has been given to all of us in equal measure.  It requires no grand effort to obtain.  The only thing required to receive its untold riches and abundance, is recognition and acceptance...and by that, walking in who you truly are.

Food For Thought...
A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about his anger at being mistreated.  He said, "I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one." The grandson asked him, "Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?" The grandfather smiled and answered, "The one I feed."
~Author unknown~
How we respond to things that are said, done, or happen to us, is in large part a result of the thoughts that we entertain regarding them.  While our first thought may be to return harsh treatment with like behavior, we DO have the power within us to overcome that instinct, and instead return kindness and love in every situation.  Learning to measure and control our responses in such a manner, is one of the most liberating and life-changing accomplishments one can attain to.  Not only does it serve to bring a sense of peace and harmony to your own life, but also to all you come into contact with.

The Reality of Faith...

Our faith comes in moments, yet there is a depth in those brief moments which constrains us to ascribe more reality to them than to all other experiences.
Much as a muscle grows through exercising it, our faith is built upon those moments when we have been willing to stand, even though circumstances may have seemed completely contrary, and known for ourselves the result of that unwavering hope.  It allows us to glimpse the depth of change and transformation possible (in ourselves, others, and circumstances), if we will only believe.  Faith DOES have substance, and through it, comes the ability to make manifest all that we dare to truly hope and believe for!

All Together Now...
Once individuals link together they become something different... Relationships change us, reveal us, evoke more from us.  Only when we join with others do our gifts become visible, even to ourselves.
~Margaret Wheatley and Myron Kellner-Rogers~
There is nothing that promotes growth, change and transformation (both individually and corporately), than when people are truly standing united and in one accord.  There is a power and synergy that comes from standing with one another in faith and agreement, like no other on earth.  Now is the time to make that stand...putting trivial differences aside...and truly recognizing that we are all one, and that what happens to the least of us, effects all of us.  May we all strive to achieve the fulfillment of a creed penned many, many years ago..."In Essentials, Unity; In Non-essentials, Liberty; In All Things, Love".

Just One Act...

You never know when one act, or one word of encouragement can change a life forever.
~Zig Ziglar~

Be ever diligent to be a source of encouragement and help to others...whether it be a simple act of kindness, generosity or a needed word of support and understanding in time of trouble.  It may very well be just the thing that was needed to turn a life around...having eternal consequence not only for that individual, but to all that they in turn come into contact with.  There is a ripple effect, that carries far beyond anything you might imagine, or see in the moment.  And the beautiful compensation from maintaining such a focus, is that ultimately your own life will be forever transformed as a result!

Counting It All Joy...
The really happy person is the one who can enjoy the scenery while on a detour.
~Author Unknown~
Seldom do things turn out exactly as we have planned, or would necessarily like for them to.  There are always unforeseen obstacles along the way, and detours on the path to our final destination.  The funny thing is, when we look back, we often find that it was in those very moments that we gained our greatest insights, strength and faith.  Learning to enjoy the journey, come what may, is not only a key to true happiness and contentment, but it will also serve to place the detours and setbacks experienced along the way in proper perspective.

Accepting the Challenge...
Accept the challenges, so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory.
~General George S. Patton~
Accept that challenges will always be a part of life, and face them head on.  There are lessons to be learned in each and every one.  Have faith that a way will be made to break through, and persevere.  Each victory will serve to develop the needed strength of character and conviction required to face and overcome the next.  Before you realize it, you will begin looking upon each new challenge with an anticipation of what lies beyond, rather than fear and apprehension about coping with it.

Act On The Vision!

A vision without a task is but a dream.  A task without a vision is drudgery.  A vision with a task is the hope of the world.
~Author Unknown~
Everyone, at some point in their life, receives a dream or vision of what they might do to fulfill their destiny.  Too often, we allow that vision to go unacted upon...letting fear and doubt, our circumstances, or other people dictate how we live our lives.  Grab hold of your vision, and act upon it...in so doing, you will see doors of opportunity open to you that you may never have thought possible.  You will never be truly satisfied until you do!

Victory Through Defeat...
History has demonstrated that the most notable winners encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed.  They finally won by their defeats.
~B. C. Forbes~
For anyone that is willing to step out into the unknown and dare to do all that they are capable of, some defeats and setbacks along the way are inevitable.  It IS the process by which we learn, grow and gather the strength to overcome the obstacles which stand in our way.  The ultimate prize is well worth any temporary trials and failures.  They will be quickly forgotten, when the vision is realized.

Lighten Up!

An age is called Dark, not because the light fails to shine, but because people refuse to see it.
~James Michener~

Too often, the things of this world would have us focus on all that is bad or wrong in our lives.  Make the conscious decision to instead focus on that which is good and right, and all that you have to be thankful for...for light will ALWAYS overcome darkness.  Can you see the light?  :-)

The Proper Position...
Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?'.  Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?'.  Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?'. But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?'.  And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right.
~Martin Luther King, Jr.~
Oftentimes, doing that which you know in your heart to be the proper course of action will go against what others may think, and even your own "natural" tendencies...and it may require that you risk standing against formidable opposition.  While it may seem difficult in the moment, it IS the course of action that will lead you to ultimate peace and contentment.  Take a long-term viewpoint, NOT one that seeks to do what appears easiest in the moment.

The Power Within...

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to
what lies within us.
~Author Unknown~
It is through the heartfelt recognition of the power that has been placed within us, that we develop the ability to overcome the shackles of past experiences that bind us, and which provides us with the steadfast hope that dispels all fear of the future.  When we learn to place our physical, intellectual and emotional inclinations under subjection to the Spirit within, then do we begin to see our lives changed and transformed, from the inside out.

Rainy Days...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain...
~Author Unknown~

A lifetime can be spent waiting for everything to be just so, and all the storms of life to pass, before beginning to enjoy life.  Take heed, for one day you will look around and discover, that all those moments were indeed, your life.  Live for this day, and this moment...Don't allow circumstances to dictate who you are, how you feel, or control your peace and joy.  Understand and take comfort in the fact, that those things come from that which is abiding within you, NOT from things external.

Don't Stop Now...
If you're going through hell, keep going.
~Winston Churchill~
When you are going through the fire of various trials, the only way to achieve ultimate victory, is to press on through them.  If you turn back from facing them, you will only have to deal with them again and again.  If you let them immobilize you, then you will simply stay in them indefinitely.  Have faith that if you continue on, trusting and believing in the end result, you WILL realize the victory over them.

A Matter of Degree...

At 211 degrees, water is hot.  At 212 degrees, it boils.  And with boiling water, comes steam.  And steam can power a locomotive.  One extra degree ...Makes all the difference.
~From the book "212: The Extra Degree"~
Don't ever underestimate the reward that can come from just a little extra effort, or hanging on for just a little while longer.  It can mean the difference between failure and success...fruitless and fruitful...average and exceptional.  If you're not getting everything that you want in life, maybe it's time to turn up the heat, just a little bit.

What a Ride...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather the plan is to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW -- what a ride!!!
~Author Unknown~
If you believe that the purpose of life is to lead a quiet, serene, and undisturbed existence, without problem or peril...think again!  Our faith grows through challenges, and grasping for that which at times seems unobtainable.  Hope and maturity evolve through facing trials and overcoming obstacles.  Ultimate peace, joy and satisfaction are derived in spending ourselves for a worthy cause, knowing that we have given it everything that we have, without regret, and without looking back.  Live in the moment!

Against All Odds...
Never let the odds keep you from pursuing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.
~Satchel Paige~
The moment that you begin to follow a bold vision for something, it will likely appear that everything is opposed to your ability to accomplish it.  People will begin to tell you all the reasons why it will not work, and attempt to instill doubt.  You will begin to conjure up in your own mind, just how impossible the task may be.  You MUST actively shut out the voices of the naysayers, and cast down the imaginations that would try and convince you that the vision is unattainable.  Remain focused on the promised result.  If you are willing to pursue it with patience and perseverance, the rewards will very likely be even greater than you first anticipated.

Focusing In...

Life is like a camera.  Just focus on what's important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, just take another shot.
~Author Unknown~

This life IS a journey, and things do not always develop or turn out as we expect them to.  Maintaining a focus on that which is truly important, will serve to see us through the dark places we encounter along the way.  Learn from the disappointments, and know that in moving forward, you are always provided with the opportunity to take another shot at things.

Taking the Limits Off...

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;  the unreasonable
one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.  Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
~G.B. Shaw~

If you truly want to realize your full potential, you MUST begin to think outside of the box...understanding, that you are NOT limited to only that which you can be see, feel or touch.  Take the limits off, and allow your creative impulses to flow...the results might just surprise you!

Take Courage...

Success is never final, and failure is never fatal; it's courage that
~Author Unknown~
Just as the seasons change, so also do the circumstances of our lives.  There will always be times of trial and times of triumph.  When we face each day with the courage and conviction of our faith, then can we truly come to understanding that lasting peace, love and joy are not predicated upon the circumstances of the moment...but are truly, a condition of the heart.

Appreciating Where You Are...
Your big opportunity may be right where you are now.
~Napoleon Hill~
Oftentimes, we are so intent on looking elsewhere for opportunities, that we miss those that are set before us right where we are.  Trust that you have been placed where you are for a reason.  Appreciate what has been given you, and be diligent to put forth your best efforts to grow and develop where you have been planted.  The increase, and unfolding blessings that result, will become apparent.  Being faithful in the little things will return great reward.  Trust that when the time is right, new doors of opportunity will open, after you have been faithful and diligent (and achieve satisfaction) where you are.

Contending For The Blessing...
What matters is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
~Coach Bear Bryant~
Seldom does anything worthwhile ever come easily...BUT, when you hold fast to your convictions, without wavering, it DOES come.  Don't allow the things that come against you to rob you of your vision.  Keep a steadfast eye on the goal, and not the circumstances, and ultimately you will overcome the obstacles that may stand in the way!

Breaking Patterns......
Simply be open to new ideas, ways of thinking, doing and acting.  Start in some small way, and observe the resulting changes in perspective and circumstances that begin to appear.  You may just find that a whole new world of possibilities opens up for you as a result.

One More Time...
You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.
~Margaret Thatcher~
Oftentimes, it seems there is at least one area in our lives that we simply cannot gain victory over.  We long to overcome it, we know that it isn't right...but there is still that one thing, that lingering problem, that little idol.  It can lead to grief and tears, being torn with guilt and condemnation...feelings of helplessness, unworthiness and confusion.  Take heart!!!  The very fact that you recognize the need for change is a step in the right direction.  Continue to declare the victory, and do NOT give up hope...He who has begun a good work in you, IS faithful to complete it!!!

The Reality of Oneness...
A person experiences life as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. Our task must be to free ourselves from this self-imposed prison, and through compassion, to find the reality of Oneness.
~Albert Einstein~
We must come to the realization that our lives are intricately woven together into the fabric of others.  There are no chance encounters, and no meaningless relations.  We have been placed where we are for a reason, and our relationship with everyone whom we come into contact has purpose.  Take opportunity to fully cultivate these relations, standing in agreement with one another, sharing each other’s joy and pain, encouraging, edifying, comforting and counseling, and see the powerful force that is released through oneness and unity.

By Definition...
When a defining moment comes along, you can do one of two things.  Define the moment, or let the moment define you.
~The Movie "Tin Cup"~
It's a fairly simple matter for most, to exhibit admirable qualities and traits during times of relative comfort and ease.  But only during times of either great triumph and victory, or great adversity and distress, are the true character and intents of the heart revealed.  It's well to pay close attention to these "defining moments", and take heed of our responses to them.  They provide a measure of where our faith lies, not only to ourselves, but others as well.  Will you be defined by these circumstances, or seize them as the opportunity that they are, to in humility, show forth the reason for your unwavering faith?

An Open Door...
I'm trying to free your mind Neo, but I can only show you the door.  You're the one that has to walk through it!"
~Morpheus (in The Matrix)~
Outward knowledge, without an inward revelation, does not affect a true change within us.  Simple mental assent is of little use, and carries no real strength until acted upon.  But when that knowledge results in a real change of heart, it eliminates all doubts and fears, and strengthens us to pursue that which we know to be true.

Use It, Or Lose It...
Shall a man go and hang himself because he belongs to the race of pygmies, and not be the biggest pygmy that he can?
~Henry David Thoreau~
It doesn't matter where you came from, what you did or didn't have, what your education level is, what natural abilities you've been given, who did what to you, or even what your current conditions and circumstances are.  Get over the past...take responsibility for yourself...and simply live your life to the best of your abilities each and every day, whatever they may be.  In so doing, not only will you finally make peace with who you are and what you have, but doors of opportunity will open to you that you never anticipated.

Believing is Seeing...
Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.
~Henry David Thoreau~
It's an easy matter to profess belief in something.  The acid test of our faith comes when we are challenged by those who do not believe, or when we are confronted with circumstances that would tempt us to do something contrary to our beliefs.  Standing firm at such times, refusing to waver or compromise, can return astounding rewards.  Circumstances begin to supernaturally change and come into line with our expectation, our own confidence is increased, and those who witness the results will also be motivated to believe.

Matters of the Heart...
It's so hard when I have to, And so easy when I want to.
~Sondra Anice Barnes~

You can never consistently do something when you feel that you "have to".  Ultimately, you will fall short and return to former ways thinking and behavior.  First develop a strong "want to", and then, doing that which is right comes naturally.  Simple mental assent and willpower will never make for lasting change...it MUST come from the heart.

Light at the End of the Tunnel...

When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off.  You sit still and trust the engineer.
~Corrie Ten Boom~
You may find yourself in a dark place today.  Most everyone experiences seasons of hurt, pain, need or lack in some area, whether it be physical or  emotional.  At these times, a sustaining factor is a steadfast faith and confidence that all things ultimately work together for your good, and that this too shall pass.  Be still, and trust in the promise given.  Ultimately, you will be guided to exactly what you need, or where you need to be.

Believe It, Or Not...

For those who believe, no proof is necessary.  For those who don't believe, no proof is possible.
~Author Unknown~
Everything that you think, do, have, and are is based entirely on what you believe.  You are not limited by circumstance, ability, or what you may see with the "natural" eye...only by what you are willing to accept as the truth for yourself.  Stretch your faith today, and believe in the possibilities.  Your life will never be the same again!

Breaking Seed...
Often in life we must learn to let go.  For it's then that true miracles can break seed and grow.
~Sunni Chapman~
Holding on to past hurts, disappointments or failures only keep us from experiencing all that life has for us today.  Why not simply decide to look forward in wonder at all of the marvelous possibilities contained in this day, and this moment.  Keep your perspective on embracing the here and now, with an anticipation of good things to come, and you WILL see miracles begin to emerge and take form in the everyday.

New Directions...
Every now and then, into a life come whisperings that old riverbeds, as deep and natural as they may seem, are not necessarily the best riverbeds. Sometimes the flow must change direction for the sake of the future. The current must be reversed and redirected.
~Author Unknown~
Most people fear change.  It is easy to become set in our ways, and not be open to new experiences, opportunities or ways of doing things.  If what you are doing is no longer working, then maybe it's time to consider a change of direction, or possibly a new way of doing it.  Be open and aware of opportunities for change when they appear.  Don't limit your possibilities to that which has always been.

Just Ask!

You don't always get what you ask for, but you never get what you don't ask for...unless it's contagious!
~Franklyn Broude~

What is it that you want for your life...your dreams, desires and aspirations?   Don't be afraid to ask for those things necessary to accomplish them!  You cannot begin to receive all that is available to you, without first being willing to ask for them.  And if at first you don't receive them, continue to ask, until you do.  As Wayne Gretzky put it, "one hundred percent of the shots you don't take, don't go in".

Just Like That...
Actually, I just woke up one day and decided I didn't want to feel like that anymore, or ever again.  So I changed.  Just like that.
~Thomas Barrett~
Oftentimes, in order to exact a desired change (whether in regard to circumstances, feelings or perspective) in our lives, there is nothing more required than simply making the conscious decision to accept nothing less...and then fixing your thoughts on that desired outcome.  It may sound like a simple premise, but the results can be immediate and far reaching.  Why not give it a try...today!

The Eye of Faith...

The way to see by Faith is to shut the Eye of Reason.
~Benjamin Franklin~
The moment you begin to step out in faith, to achieve the vision you have been given, your natural mind (and often, many of those around you) will immediately begin to conjure up all the reasons why you can't accomplish it.  You MUST actively shut out those thoughts (and naysayers), and ACT on the faith that the vision WILL be realized, if you are only willing to diligently pursue it.

A Leap Of Faith...

"Come to the edge" the teacher said.  The students replied "but we are afraid".  "Come to the edge" the teacher repeated.  They came... He pushed them...They flew!
~Author Unknown~

You will never know just how much you are capable of, until you are willing to get out of your comfort zone, and step out into the unknown.  Don't worry, if you fall, you can get right back up and try it again.  Before you know it, you'll be soaring with the eagles!

Try, Try Again...

Courage does not always roar.  Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
~Author Unknown~
How often we know in our heart the right things to do, and yet we simply fall short, and fail to do them.  We know the proper course of action, but for whatever reason, cannot seem to stay the course.  Then, as guilt and remorse overtake us, we amplify the problem by beating ourselves up (and at times, those around us) for the failing.  Take courage...knowing that recognition and conviction, in and of itself, is a step in the right direction.  Pick yourself up, repent of your shortcomings and forgive yourself, as you are forgiven...then renew your determination to overcome, this day forward...one step at a time...one day at a time.  Life is found in these small victories, not usually in milestones!

Decisions, Decisions...
Again and again, the impossible problem is solved when we see that the problem is only a tough decision waiting to be made.
~Robert Schuller~
Problems only remain problems as long as we refuse to decide on an appropriate course of action.  It's been said that there are no problems, only opportunities...and it's true, that within each one, lies hidden opportunity.  An opportunity to see what we are made of...an opportunity to grow through the experience...an opportunity to choose the correct response...an opportunity to gain victory over that which besets us.  Determine to be decisive when faced with various trials and steadfast in your resolve to, by faith, see your way through them.  You will soon see how quickly they become but minor stepping stones on the path to your ultimate destination!

An Ear To Hear...

The quieter you become the more you can hear.
~Baba Ram Dass~
With the multitude of things that we have to deal with each day, it often becomes difficult to properly discern what we should do in a given situation.  We become so wrapped-up in the cares of life, and the seemingly endless tasks at hand, that we don't take the time to listen to that still small voice inside that gives us direction.  Make time to be still, and listen to that inner voice!

What An Attitude...
I have not failed.  I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
~Thomas Edison (while inventing the light bulb)~
When you have a true vision of something new or different, don't allow what may appear as initial failure, to keep you from attaining it.  Make the commitment to pursue it with persistence and patience, and it will surely come.

The Purpose Driven Life...
When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds; your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.
Something happens when we discover our ultimate purpose in life.  Every sense awakens to the potential that exists in each circumstance, new possibilities emerge, and we begin to recognize the giftings that we may have never before realized were within us.  When the purpose is a noble one, it matters little what others may say or think, what material benefit may be gained from it, or if any recognition is given to it.  YOU know in your heart...and that IS sufficient.  We all have the choice, whether we will live our lives with purpose, or live in regret.  Live with purpose!

Live For This Day...
It is said that our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.
~Charles H. Spurgeon~
It's true that being anxious about tomorrow, or some possible event that "might" happen in the future, only serves one purpose...to distract us from that which we could (and should) be doing now, today.  Imagine just how much time is lost in worry and fret about things that never even come to pass.  When you ponder THAT, doesn't it seem like a tremendous (and silly) waste of time?  Live for THIS day, not in fear of what tomorrow may hold...be present!

Inspiration or Aspiration?
The world does not need super-men, but super-natural men.  Men who will persistently turn the self out of their lives and let Divine Power work through them...Let inspiration take the place of aspiration.
~The Two Listeners~
What a difference it makes, when we begin to do things from the sense of inspiration that comes from deep within, rather than from a perspective of selfish aspiration.  Doors that have always remained closed, will suddenly begin to open.  Things which once seemed an impossibility in your own power, will be seen as having infinite possibility.  All things become possible for those that will only believe...and when selfishly motivated ambitions begin to be replaced with a divine sense of purpose.

Expecting The Unexpected...
True stability results when presumed order and presumed disorder are balanced.  A truly stable system expects the unexpected, is prepared to be disrupted, waits to be transformed.
~Tom Robbins~
Oftentimes in our lives, it seems as though the only thing constant, is change.  What worked for us yesterday, may no longer work for us today...that which we deem important today, may appear meaningless tomorrow.  Through this process we are ever learning, growing and maturing into that which we might become. Learning to accept the challenges that life presents us with, and adapting to the changes around and within us.  Knowing that all these things work together for our good, is a big step toward true understanding.

Inevitable Change...

You cannot expect to achieve new goals or move beyond your present circumstances unless you change.
~Les Brown~
All personal progress and growth inevitably requires change.  Changes in our perception, thoughts, understanding, and ultimately our resulting actions.  We should never fear change, but rather, embrace it.  What we should truly fear, is becoming so complacent and stagnant in our current understanding and/or position, that we refuse to seek out new revelation and understanding, or allow ourselves to be transformed by them.

The Way of Progress...

I was taught that the way of progress is neither swift nor easy.
~Marie Curie~
In today's drive-through society, it's often difficult to develop the patience and steadfast endurance that is required for lasting achievement.  We tend to expect immediate results, and instant gratification.  Any new idea, or worthwhile endeavor, generally entails much testing, trial and error.  Learn to look at each setback and problem encountered, not as failure, but as that which takes you one step closer to ultimate success...be patient and consistent in your efforts, and you WILL see the victory.

A New Day...

Dreams are renewable.  No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born.
~Dr. Dale Turner~
It is NEVER too late to realize our dreams, or begin anew in accomplishing that which is our heartfelt desire.  At any moment in time, we can begin to walk in whatever it is that we may have imagined for ourselves.  The key lies in learning to live in this present moment, giving all of our energy and attention to this day...without the baggage of regret about past mistakes or hurts or lost opportunities, and without fear of what the future may hold.  Today IS the first day of the rest of your life...determine to make the most of it!

Never does a man portray his character more vividly than his proclaiming the character of another.
~Winston Churchill~

It's been said, that we oftentimes only see in others, that which is in ourselves...and, that when we point a finger at someone else, there are always three more pointed back at us.  Before we begin to judge another's character or actions, it may well pay to take a hard look at our own motivations for judgment!

Random Kindness...

Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty.
~Adair Lara~

Make it your purpose to give of what you have...even if it's just a smile to brighten anothers' day, or a helping hand to lift someone up in their time of need.  Encourage and comfort in whatever way that you can.  When your focus is turned outward, and your attentions are toward meeting the needs of others, you will find that in your giving of yourself, you in turn will lack for nothing.

Matters of the Heart...

The most powerful agent of growth and transformation is something much more basic than any technique:  A change of heart.
~John Welwood~

In order for any permanent growth and change to take place in our lives, of necessity, we MUST have a change of heart.  Positive thinking techniques,  repetitive "mantras", or sheer will power might exact a temporary change, but ultimately we will always return to our former ways, unless there is a true change of heart.  The very self-protective barriers that we create due to fear caused by previous hurts, failures and pain, also serve to keep us from receiving the transformation of heart that we desire.  Open your heart, yielding to the Spirit of grace, and allow yourself to experience the liberation which comes as a result.

Paying It Forward...
When someone does you a big favor, don't pay it back…pay it forward!
~From the movie "Pay It Forward"~
There is a natural inclination when someone does something unexpected or unsolicited to help us meet a need, accomplish a task, or simply encourage or comfort us in some way.  That is, to try and find some way to repay them for the favor.  Consider instead, paying it forward.  Do the same for two or three others as opportunities present themselves, and see for yourself the ripple effect that it can create.  You just never know when that seemingly small act might create a wave of love, compassion, giving and good deeds, that circle the globe.

Come On...You Can Do It!
Those who are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage more than criticize.
~ Elizabeth Harrison ~
simple word of encouragement can make the difference in lifting someone from failure to success...from turmoil to peace...from a sense of fear and hopelessness, to one of faith and courage.  We all need it from time to time.  Practice speaking words of encouragement, rather than criticism, and see what a difference it makes...not only in the lives of those whom you are lifting up, but in your own as well.  Great blessings come to those who ARE a blessing to others.

3 Reasons Why You Should Take More Risks

One of the things I’ve learned to embrace in life is the art of taking risks. Now, when I say “risks” I’m not talking about betting your savings account on a horse race or going skydiving. I’m talking about doing things that most people would consider to be out of the ordinary. I’m talking about putting yourself in an uncomfortable position in order to create massive change in your life.

Why? Here are 3 reasons:

  1. If you want an extraordinary life, you have to take some risks.
As I started my career as an author and speaker, I was soon struck by the realization that if I did not start doing something different, something out of the ordinary, something that most people wouldn’t perceive as normal…then I would just be leading an average life.

Here’s the thing: if you’re doing what everyone else is doing, you’re living a life with very little risk. But if you want to create something great, be someone great, achieve spiritual greatness, financial greatness, parenting greatness, or marital greatness—whatever it is—you will not find it by doing what everyone else is doing…because not everyone is achieving great results.
  2. Risks bring about change.
Obviously, becoming great in an area of your life is going to involve change…which is usually a scary prospect. Here is where you need to flip the script in your mind.

Change is scary. But it’s also an opportunity for so many great things! Think about it…every great thing that’s happened to you happened because something changed. I’m not saying all change is good. But I am saying that nothing great happens without change.

When I started discussing the concept for my latest book, How Do You Kill 11 Million People?, with my team and my publisher, we all were a little uneasy about breaking off in such a different direction from my previous books. It was a big change. It was a big risk. But we took it.

And as of right now, it’s the only book I’ve ever written that hit the New York Times bestseller list the first week of its release. It’s opened me up to some new avenues and opportunities. It’s given me a platform to speak about things I couldn’t really speak about before.

    Change can be great.
  3. More risks…fewer regrets.
There was a recent article in The Guardian titled “Top Five Regrets of the Dying,” (you can read it here). A nurse who has spent a good deal of time working with dying patients recorded the reasons. Here is the #1 regret she recorded:

“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

Wow. Read that second part again, “not the life others expected of me.” That statement identifies the biggest hurdle to overcome when taking risks and doing things
differently—denying what others expect of you.

The nurse went on to say, “Most people had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.”

Choices they had not made. Risks they did not take. Change they were unwilling to face.

You will never know whether you could have done something if you don’t take a risk. Don’t live a life of regrets.

Painting Your Dream...
I dream of painting, and then I paint my dream.
~Vincent Van Gogh~
Don't be afraid to dream BIG dreams!  They ARE the substance of things to come.  Most great endeavors begin with a dream or vision of something as yet unfulfilled...coupled with the steadfast determination to follow it wherever it may lead, until it becomes a reality.  Be prepared however, to keep the vision  always before your eyes and hold fast to it, in order to make it through the dark places that it may lead, before it can be brought to light.

Determined Faith...

When a person is determined, what can stop him?  Cripple him...and you have Sir Walter Scott.  Put him in a prison cell...and you have John Bunyan.  Bury him in the snow...and you have George Washington.  Have him born in abject poverty...and you have Abraham Lincoln.  Load him with bitter racial prejudice...and you have Disraeli.  Take away her sight and ability to hear...and you have Helen Keller.  Afflict him with asthma until he lies choking in his father's arms...and you have Theodore Roosevelt.  Put him in the grease pit of a locomotive roundhouse...and you have Walter Chrysler.  Make him a second fiddle in an obscure South American orchestra...and you have Toscanini.  Hardships do not make a person great.  But by holding fast to enthusiasm and faith in the face of hardship, you can become great.
~Author Unknown~

There is always a choice to be made, when faced with hardship or affliction.  We can either allow them to overcome us, and live a life of defeat, bemoaning our fate...or, through faith and perseverance, we can allow them to develop  in us a strength of character that cannot be shaken.  When that occurs, and we truly awaken to the potential that lies deep within each of us, then can we walk in the fullness of all that there is for us.  It was there all along, simply awaiting the moment of our recognition.

The Power of Repetition...

Repeat anything often enough and it will start to become you.
~Tom Hopkins~

Both words AND actions, when continually repeated, will begin to shape and form the very essence and nature of who you are, and what you may ultimately accomplish.  They can either provide for positive and constructive reinforcement, or negative and destructive reinforcement.  Be attentive, and ever vigilant in speaking and acting in a manner consistent with your desires, for they will indeed serve to fashion your destiny

Wait and See...

Be patient.  Patience is also preparation.  It is the action before the act.
~Noak ben Shea~
When you have a clear vision of something, it's often difficult to wait until you are fully prepared, and circumstances are right to execute your plan.  Oftentimes, impatience, and attempting to do something before its' time, has led to disaster...when if things had been allowed to simply develop naturally, resounding success could have been achieved.  It is equally important to know when not to act, as it is to know when to.  And always remember, that days of preparation are NEVER wasted days!

Don't Stop Now!

You've got to say, "I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it." It's called perseverance.
~Lee J. Iacocca~
When you have a vision of something BIG, don't allow initial failures or setbacks to keep you from realizing it.  Stay focused on the vision, knowing that every obstacle that comes along in your pursuit of it, is merely bringing you one step closer to its' attainment.  Colonel Sanders (Kentucky Fried Chicken) traveled the entire country by car, and had to approach over 12,000 restaurants, trying to get them to take a chance on his "secret recipe"...at the age of 65, while living on a $105/month Social Security check!!!  Now that's perseverance!

When you care about the end of the story, you will work your way through it.

Money – If you’re not happy without it, you won’t be happy with it.

A wise man has money in his head not his heart.

Nobody Said It Would Be Easy...

How glorious it is - and also how painful - to be an exception.
~Alfred de Musset~

It's not always easy to do the right thing, especially when those around you are not.  Dare to be different...stand on your convictions, and don't allow others to convince you to compromise in that which you know in your heart is the proper course of action.  It may not always be the easiest course, but in the long run, it is ALWAYS the most rewarding.

Just a Thought...
Our destiny changes with our thought;  we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thought corresponds with our desire.
~Orison S. Marden~
Everything first begins with a thought or an idea, which we begin to entertain and give place to in our mind.  That thought then begins to take form, and shapes the words we speak...our words in turn effect our actions...and ultimately, our actions will shape our destiny.  Learning to control one's thought-life therefore, is an essential ingredient to living a victorious life.

Worrier or Warrior?

Worry is meditating on something that you do NOT want to happen.
~Author Unknown~
Consider what a destructive force it is to focus our thoughts and attention on things that we, in fact, do NOT want to happen!  Why would we want to give place to them, and thus raise the potential for manifesting them in our lives?  What a silly waste of time and energy that is.  When negative or worrisome thoughts begin to invade your mind, make the conscious decision to instead focus on the positive, and good that are always contained in every situation.  It WILL begin to change both your perspective and circumstances.  Be a warrior, not a worrier...a victor, not a victim!

Matters of Perspective...

When I hear somebody sigh, "life is hard", I am always tempted to ask, "compared to what?".
~Sydney Harris~
In life, there will always be challenges to be faced, and obstacles to overcome.  The key to leading a victorious and productive life does not lie in never having difficulties...but in how we respond to those trials when they do arise.  They MUST be faced head on, while maintaining an abiding sense of understanding, that from them comes growth, and change, and ultimately perfect peace in the midst of it all.

The Path Unwinding...

It's the circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope, through faith and love, 'till we find our place, on the path unwinding. ~Elton John~

Everything that we experience in life serves a purpose, and that purpose is to advance us toward our ultimate destination and maturity.  We may not always see the immediate value in a failed relationship, painful circumstance or other hurts and losses that we sustain...but there is always a lesson to be learned.  Maintain a sense of hope throughout, and have faith that when you are ready, understanding will come, things will be placed in their proper perspectives, and personal growth will be achieved as a result of the process.

The Answer of Faith...

God has four gifts for you:  A key for every problem, A light for every shadow, A plan for every tomorrow & A joy for every sorrow.
~Author unknown~

We must come to a point of realization, that consistently trying to do and handle things in our own power, and our own way, is not the answer.  Have a problem today?  Give it to God!  In a place of darkness?  Allow God's light to guide you out of it!  Know that your future is in His hands, and that though there may be cause for weeping now, He will bring you joy again.  Only believe...

Life's Ambiguities...

Some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle and end.  Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.  Delicious ambiguity.
~Gilda Radner~

If you attempt to orchestrate and plan every aspect of your life, you can be sure that those plans will be disrupted, and frustration will set in.  Expect there to be unknown events and challenges, and a need to change and adapt to them as they arise...and simply be present in this moment, without concern, anxiety or preconceived notions of what the future may or should hold.  Simply know, that every one, and every thing that comes into your life, provides you with an opportunity to learn and grow from them.  Life becomes so much less complicated and enjoyable when you do...Relish the delicious ambiguity of it all!

Trust God or worry.  Those are the two choices you have in every situation. Trust God and be at peace.  Worry and experience stress.  Your choices are that simple and you will make your life as peaceful or stressful as you choose to make it.  Trust God and be at peace.  This is all that is asked of you.
~James Blanchard~

Simple trust, that God IS at work in your life, is indeed the key to finding and maintaining peace of mind...in whatever circumstance you may be experiencing, or whomever may be placed in your path to challenge you.  You always have the choice, in every situation, to fully place your trust in God...and as soon as you do, peace will be your natural state of being.

A Happy Choice...

We tend to seek happiness, when happiness is really a choice.
~Rodney White~

Spend all of your time seeking after happiness, as if it were something to be attained, and you will never find it.  It will always remain just out of reach, or predicated on some other condition being met.  It truly is a conscious choice as to what attitude we determine to approach each day with, each encounter, and virtually every situation and circumstance.  Stop worrying about things that you don't have, and begin focusing instead on recognizing and appreciating what you do have, and that choice will become easier and easier.

Consistency of Purpose...

It's the constant and determined effort that breaks down all resistance, sweeps away all obstacles.
~Claude M. Bristol~
In order to fulfill that which you have envisioned for yourself, you MUST maintain consistency of purpose.  If you enter into something with the thought that you will "try" it for a while, to see if it works, you are already defeated.  You must remain committed to seeing it through...and with determination and perseverance, you will see all obstacles that stand in your way removed.

The Attitude of Choice...
Perception - the lens through which we view life - is at the root of how we deal with all of it.  As Victor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor and author, put it so eloquently, everything can be taken away from a man but one thing:  the last of the human freedoms--to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.
~Doc Childre~
Life truly IS all about choices.  In any given circumstance, and at every moment, we can choose the attitude which we will bring to it, AND the one that will carry us through it.  The choices we make, in our attitude, our thoughts, as well as our actions, can have far reaching impact...whether for good or bad.  Choose wisely!

Make Up Your Mind...

Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by traffic from both sides.
~Margaret Thatcher~
Stand firm in that which you believe and are called to, and don't allow  anything to shake your resolve.  Compromise, wavering and doubt can slowly steal the victory away that is there for you.  Trust that everything will work for your certain good, if you only continue on the upright path.  Uncertainty and indecision can only serve to rob you of all that could be yours.

Just a Thought...
There is a thought in your mind right now.  The longer you hold on to it, the more you will dwell upon it, the more life you give to that thought.  Give it enough life, and it will become real.  So make sure the thought is indeed a great one.
~Ralph Marston~
The things that we dwell upon...the thoughts that we entertain on a regular basis, will indeed begin to take form.  Those thoughts will become actions, and those actions will turn into habits.  And ultimately, those repeating habits will serve to shape the life that we experience.  If you find yourself focusing on the negative, find something positive to replace it with...Now!  Thoughts of lack?  Replace them with thoughts of all that you have to be thankful for.  Thoughts of ill-will?   Replace them with thoughts of love.  Thoughts of  things that are ugly or perverse?  Replace them with thoughts of all that is beautiful.  Do it consistently, and ALL of these experiences will become yours!

A Turning Point...

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
- Art Linkletter
The attitude and perspective with which we view the various events and challenges in our lives, plays a huge role in our ultimate experience of them.  When we begin to view ALL of life's changing situations and circumstances as fertile ground...ever offering something to learn, profit or grow from, rather than something to be feared, hurt, or beaten down from...then do things become a never ending source of hope, joy and love.

An Untroubled Spirit...
The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.
~Marcus Aurelius~
We are typically vexed with numerous challenges each and every day.  The only way to properly discern what course of action to take regarding them, is through maintaining an untroubled spirit.  Always strive to make decisions from that place.  And when you find yourself unable, take time to do whatever is necessary to return to it, before proceeding.  It will pay enormous dividends regarding the unfolding of events.

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.
~Richard Bach~
There come defining moments in our lives, when it may seem as though our entire world as we know it, has come to an end.  What has always worked in the past, no longer seems to work for us.  Relationships that we felt would last a lifetime, are suddenly taken from us forever.  Or, we simply feel that we can't go on another day the way that things are.  That is precisely the moment when we can be changed, and transformed, in order to become all that we were meant to be.  As we wrestle to break free from those bonds that seem to envelop us, a "suddenly" can occur, when everything comes into focus, and we recognize exactly who we are, why we are here, and to Whom we belong.  Take heart if you are at that moment today...look up to where your help truly comes from...and be prepared for your "suddenly"!!!

One Life...

One individual life may be of priceless value to God's purposes, and yours may be that life.
~Oswald Chambers~

Never underestimate your own purpose in the grand scheme of things.  It may be that you were brought into this world for the sole purpose of touching only one life in a profound way, that in turn impacts a multitude.  View every encounter as a divine appointment, and every action as one that may contain eternal consequence.  Nothing should be considered a trivial matter.  With such a perspective, your attention to cultivating relationships, simple gestures of love and kindness, and indeed, your own sense of self worth, will never be the same again.
