Photo CD

Assignment:   Burn a Photo CD of your photos from inside Picasa

Goals:             Produce a Photo CD (with an auto playing slideshow) for you to take to a store to have your pictures printed

Tools:              Picasa and a blank CD

NOTE: Do NOT include "Slide Show" on your Picasa Gift CD if you want to be able to print directly at a photo store like Walgreen's. The images will be on the CD...and can be access from home and uploaded to the store.

Instruction:

1. Picasa's Gift CD option will make a really neat Autoplay Slide Show CD of any album or folder.

2. Choose an album or folder...or make a new album of all of the pictures you want on a CD...call the Album "Photo CD 1" or some other relevant file name. BTW, you can add more folders at the CD Writing Wizard...but you will not be able to selectively add photos from various folders...so make the album to get just the photos you want in there.

3. Insert a blank CD. Hit cancel on the Windows XP Autoplay Wizard that offers to open a writeable folder, etc. Just hit cancel because you are using Picasa to burn the CD.

Click on "Gift CD". Make sure photo size is set to "Original Size", included Slideshow (default), title the CD (it will already have the name of the folder), "Add More..." to add additional photos...but make sure that everything will still fit on one CD (under the photos, just above the lower section)...as you do not want to burn across two discs. If the disc size goes to two discs...drop out of the Gift CD dialog (cancel) and remove some photos...as it is better to make two different CDs than one that is Part 1 and Part 2.

Alternatives to using Picasa to Burn a CD...using Windows XP  Burning Software (built in to system) or Nero (3rd Party Software)

If you need to burn files OTHER than photos, click the link above to use either Windows XP or Nero to burn your CD.
