Picture Collage
The conclusion of this project will be to use Picasa to create a Picture Collage of your FAVs.
Creating "The Hunt Collage":
Select 6-12 photos from the shoot and Add to a New Album called "Hunt Album".
Add captions for each photo. 2x click the image to get to edit mode and type (it will automatically add it as a caption). Depending on the style of the boarder, it may not appear, but it is good to go ahead and put what it is under the photo. DO NOT PUT TEXT ON the photos at this stage. The text has to be put on after step 10 below (after you have created the collage).
Tweak the photos now. Our printer prints a little dark. So, if it is perfect on the screen, itt will print dark on the screen. If it is DARK on the screen, it is going to be REALLY dark when it prints. So, make it a little on the light side on your screen so it will be ok if the printer darkens it.
Decide NOW how you want your collage to look (see screen shots below). Option 1 is most likely the best option, but requires more work on the text. Option 2 is easier, but it crops your photos to square images with NO option to override the cropping.
Then click on the Create Photo Collage button just above the album.
Change the Page Format to 8.5x11.
Put a picture border by either clicking on the simple white picture border (the middle option) or, you can choose the option to the right (looks like a Polaroid*).
Rearrange all of your pictures to show most of the pictures. Resize and rotate as necessary to make them fit.
Set one picture that is uniform as a good background image. Or, you can use a LIGHT solid color (no dark or black backgrounds).
Click "Create Collage". Make sure you are pleased with all of the pictures, because although you can EDIT the collage and create a new version, any text you add on the next step will have to be redone. You can ask for a preliminary proofing if you like.
Add Text depending on the Layout style you chose below: Two options for adding Text...either as a Caption (Polaroid), or as a Text Box. If you used the square "Polaroid" style, then you are done. Move on to the step. Or, if you used a mixture of borders, For option Add a caption. Add text boxes to each photo. Edit photo, click on Add Text, and tweak as desired or necessary.
Add the following text boxes: "The Hunt" (or some similar title) really large and "Photos and Collage by YOUR NAME".
UPLOAD collage to your PicasaWeb Album...to either the Hunt Album or to an new Album called "Collages".
Get a quick ok to print, make sure special paper is loaded and then hit print.
Create Picasa Web account if you haven't already - Upload your selected pictures from your Hunt Album to a PicasaWeb Gallery. Add additional galleries as you see fit.
Send me a URL to your gallery (unless I see it on the screen in class and say that I got your graded)
Continue with The Hunt Collage: After you have finished adding pictures to your album:
1. Add a caption (2x click the image to get to edit mode and type (it will automatically add it as a caption).
2. Then click on the Create Photo Collage button just above the album.
3. Change the Page Format to 8.5x11.
4. Click on the picture border to the right (looks like a Polaroid).
5. Rearrange all of your pictures to show most of the pictures. Resize and rotate as necessary to make them fit.
GOOGLE + NOTE: If you have converted to Google +, I can help you DEconvert. Click here: Turn off Google +.
*Alternatively, if "Polaroid" cuts into your pictures to much (they will be square), you can change one or all of your pictures back to the simple white frame. Then, manually add text to the picture AFTER you "Create Collage" when you have a new JPEG composite image.

My Sample:
Option 1: Pictures have a white border, but are NOT cropped. Option 2: Pictures are Cropped via a Polaroid format

Answers to some of the words:

3. Solitude
4. Anachronism
Real life story of Anachronism. In the Fall of 2011, BCP (Beaumont Community Players) wanted to borrow a camera from the 1920's. I knew the director of the play and was willing and able to help. The person who came by to look at the cameras looked at the simple box camera I had out for her, but she also noticed another camera I had out. She was more interested in it because it looked more like an antique camera. I explained that the camera she wanted was 40 years later. She choose to go with the 1960 camera even though the production was based on the 1920's time period. - movie with a bunch of this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0959337/goofs - Top 10 Movie Anachronisms -
So, it may be hard to shoot for this. To keep it simple, anachronism is anything that is out of place.

Don't know what a word means? Look it up. Concepts such as these are elements or impressions, moods/feelings that go beyond just looking at and seeing the obvious. This assignment is in part about...YOU learning to look beyond the obvious. Of course I could tell you what each word meant and a meaning, but that sort of hand holding will keep you from using your own brain and ideas to get creative. If I show you an example of EVERYTHING then I deprive you of the opportunity to come up with something on your own...and that's no fun. Enjoy...have some fun...be creative.
